On Shuksan approach, Tim Jumonville displays the seemingly unlikely wardrobe of surfing shorts and plastic mountaineering boots. Nearly all the guides use only plastic boots, even on the longest approaches, a practice which I would adopt on Shuksan after carrying my heavy boots on my pack for the long Glacier Peak approach.
